traveling this week to Ann Arbor and New York

I was born and raised in the American midwest, but have spent over half of the past twenty years in Japan and Germany. I'm a farmer's daughter, and that experience grounded me and connected me to life in ways about which I'm still learning…and I'm grateful for this. I am deeply optimistic, something I gained from my father. And I am in awe of life and how things are flowing and changing and shifting…this tidal wave of energy we're in can either be terrifying or exhilarating, and I prefer to feel the exhilarating side!

My latest project is a band called Wavegarden (www.wavegarden.net). Carlos Michael and I are the core of the group, making sounds with crystal singing bowls, wooden and silver flutes, and tabla, and occasionally with other instruments (it's a virtual band, that changes membership depending on when and where we play). The vibrations from the bowls have a deep effect on body tissue and brain function, and invite (some would even say push) people to reach a deeply relaxed state that can be profoundly healing….we call our events “concerts”, but several people who experienced the sounds recently said “it’s not a concert, it’s a full body experience!”

We're based in Germany and will be in the US for the next two months (to mid-December). We'll be playing events in and around NYC, and in Hawaii, and possibly points in between, for those of you who are interested…our first CD will be released this week and will soon be up on iTunes.  It's minimal, very much a meditation CD.  We hope the second will be out later this year, and it will reflect more what we play in concert.  (Search Carlos Michael on iTunes now and you’ll find one of Carlos’ CDs from a few years ago called Healing Vibration.)
